NORSEQ OSLO
NorSeq Oslo provides both long- and short-read technologies with a focus on automation and high throughput, handling approx. 30,000 samples per year. The team has provided NGS services since 2009, and currently operates from two locations (UiO and Ullevål hospital) that will colocalise to the new Life Science Building in January 2027.
Infrastructure
Short-read sequencers (Illumina): NovaSeqX (2), NextSeq (3), MiSeq (3), MiSeq-i100 (2).
Long-read sequencers: PacBio Revio, Oxford Nanopore PromethION P2 (2).
Single Cell equipment: 10X Chromium X, 10X Visium Cytassist, Mission Bio Tapestri, S2 Genomics Singulator.
Liquid Handling: Hamilton NGS-Star (3), SPT Firefly(2), Formulatrix F.A.S.T., Hamilton MicroLab, Volta Callisto
Compute: 1 PB storage, 2 high mem CPU servers, 1 GPU workstation, 4 node VMware solution, 3 Illumina DRAGEN servers, Illumina VeriSeq server, BioNano Saphyr compute servers
Services
For both short and long-read sequencing we offer a full service including consulting on study design, library prep, sequencing and data analysis (genomic alignment and in addition counting for RNA-seq).
Library preps for DNA: Standard, low-input and ultra-low input (PacBio only). Library preps for RNA: mRNA, total RNA with rRNA depletion and miRNA. 16S amplification service. OLINK Explore-HT and Reveal assays.
Single cell equipment can be booked free of charge on the simple condition that sequencing is performed with us thereafter (for full-service single cell, refer to NorSeq-cancer).

Olink Certified Service Provider
We are pleased to announce that the NSC–Ullevål node is now a Certified Service Provider (CSP) for the Olink Explore-HT and Reveal assays.
Both assays are available with immediate effect.

Novaseq X is here
Sequencing on the Illumina NovaSeq X can be up to 2.5× cheaper per base compared to the NovaSeq 6000.
The NovaSeq X uses a different sequencing chemistry, which may result in different error profiles and biases. We therefore recommend using a single platform consistently within a project whenever possible.
