About NorSeq

A National Network for Genomic Research

Five expert nodes combine complementary technologies, infrastructure and expertise to make advanced sequencing and genomic analysis accessible to researchers across Norway.

NorSeq is Norway’s national sequencing infrastructure, connecting leading genomics environments in Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim and Tromsø together with a dedicated national cancer node.
Across the network, the centres provide end-to-end support — from study design and sample preparation to library construction, sequencing, data processing and bioinformatics analysis.
The combined infrastructure supports research across medicine, cancer, basic biology, marine science, ecology and translational science. The individual nodes contribute complementary expertise, technologies and services, allowing researchers to access a broad range of genomic approaches within one national infrastructure.

Five Nodes, Complementary Expertise

NorSeq combines five established genomics environments, each contributing specialised infrastructure and expertise to the national network.
NorSeq Oslo provides high-throughput short- and long-read sequencing with extensive automation and computational infrastructure.
NorSeq Bergen provides end-to-end genomic services spanning experimental design, sequencing, bioinformatics, training and data-management support.
NorSeq Trondheim combines genomic technologies with close integration between NTNU and St. Olavs Hospital, supporting biomedical, translational and broader biological research.
NorSeq Tromsø provides comprehensive sequencing support from experimental design and laboratory processing through bioinformatics, publication and sequence-data deposition.
NorSeq-Cancer provides cancer-focused genomics and multi-omics services, including tumour profiling, liquid biopsies, single-cell and spatial applications.
